Peace and Freedom Party

Fresno County Central Committee

This site contains materials and information regarding the Fresno County Central Committee of the Peace and Freedom Party.

The organization, operation, and functions of that political party known as the Peace and Freedom Party of California is governed by its by-laws and the California Elections Code. The organization, operation, and functions of the Fresno County Central Committee are found in sections 7850 through 7884.

Members of the Fresno County Central Committee are elected at the direct primary election. For more information about the election of Central Committee members, refer to California Elections Code sections 7750 through 7755 and sections 7770 through 7783.

A county central committee is required by section 7850 of the election code to have "its first meeting on the second Tuesday in July following the direct primary election."  At this time, the newly elected county central committee is seated and an election is held to select a chair (and any other officers defined by the county central committee's bylaws). This information is then transmitted to the County Clerk and the State Chair of the Peace and Freedom Party. In addition, section 7850 of the election code further states "and at subsequent meetings, a county central committee, in its sole discretion, may appoint any additional members to the county central committee as it may desire."
